I managed to get in for a sail after driving back from Portsmouth. Good 3
hours at Eastney in the morning, but all along I knew that Sussex would
have been cranking. In the car I said "I would really like to get a local
sail in today". "no chance" was the reply. Luckily the missus dozed off in
the front and failed to detect the right turn through Shoreham Airport
until it was too late!. I was only checking the conditions to confirm my
fears, but once I saw those waves, I literally had to beg with tears in my
eyes. So got out on 4.5m and had my fill while the kids had a cracking time
on the beach. Should have rigged bigger in hindsight, possibly as wind was
shifting towards offshore, but no time so just pumped like mad to get out
of trouble. Waves were clean and chest to head high, not a lot of power
but setting up for easy turns down the line.
